Hi :) I’m Yeaye and welcome to It’s Lit, the newsletter where Black literature and Black music collide.
It’s Lit is a space to talk about books by Black authors, music by Black artists, and all the interesting ways that these two things intersect, overlap, and speak to (or against!) each other.
Like Chance the Rapper said (in what I think was one of his best features to date), “I’m just having fun with it!” As an avid reader and music enthusiast, I want It’s Lit to be fun before anything else, a place to play around with new ideas and maybe learn something new.
So…if you like books, and you like music, and you can appreciate the ways that Black creatives have been, and continue to be, at the forefront of damn near every field, then this is the place for you.
